Meeting was called to order by our vice president Jeff Carter at 10:08 on
Saturday May 29. There were about 30 residents in attendance.
Board members present were Norm Sanders, Dave Gray, Connie Dowis, Jeff
Carter, Joyce Gleason and Jackie Cross. We are in need of another person to
fill a vacant seat on the board. No one volunteered to fill this position at
the time.
Treasury Report was given by Bonnie Foote after expenses Balance is
$4,101.38. Treasury report was approved by Glen Freeman and seconded by
Connie Dowis.
Bonnie Foote reported a bad leak in the roof of the club house is in need of
repair. She had an estimated amount of $300.00, which a motion was made to
have done ASAP. There was also mention of a need for siding on the building
and repairs inside. Leo Gleason mentioned if the association bought the
shingles he would get the roof all replaced. . Money for these repairs will
have to be donated by residents or come out of our general fund of dues. No
further discussion was made or suggested at this time.
Flags purchased for boats are down state at this time but Jackie will get
them back.
Gypsy Moth balance remains at $83l.18. The township will spray the 2nd week
of June and our money will stay in the fund at this time.
Pot Luck and picnic for July 4 was mentioned but no volunteer came forward.
This is a bring a dish affair with games for the kids, and a way to meet
your neighbors. There is also a ice cream social in the evening.
Jackie Cross will volunteer again. More details at the meeting on July 3.
Discussion on any repairs to ramp, Norm Sanders says at this time no added
gravel is needed. Grading will be done and gully for water drainage was
explained to resident adjacent to ramp.
Leo Gleason suggested that an increase in the dues might help defray some of
the repair expenses that we need done. No amount was mentioned and the
suggestion went by the way side with no further discussion on it.
There were some new residents and discussion on the dock was started again
with the same things being trashed out over and over. Every thing they
suggested or asked had been repeated over and over so this was tabled and a
notice will be written up and posted so that if these questions arise again
the person will be asked to read the former data on this matter or to speak
with a board member after the meeting. We see no further need to spend every
meeting discussing these same issues. Everyone in the association has got to
learn to get along regarding the boat docks. When you buy your property the
real estate may say you have a boat dock but they do not necessary come with
the purchase of the property.
More signs needed to be posted in areas as it is easier to enforce the rules
if signs are in place. There will be more signs about speed in the canal
area. Racing on the roads is a state law and can be enforced by a call to
the police. There will also be more signs in the ramp area.
Tim lot 48 made a motion to purchase more signs and Phil Hall seconded.
Marlene Freeman had an article on the dissolvement of the North Cranberry
Lake Association .If this has happened it means that any land owned by the
association will revert back to the county for sale. This will happen to our
beach and canal access if our association folds because of lack of concerned
people. The same people can not do everything to keep this association
afloat.
Marlene Freeman also had information to inform new residents on trash pickup
and disposal of large articles .
Glen Freeman will put in buoys in Spring for swimming and Doug Evans will
bring them out in September.
Norm Sanders mentioned they will survey the lake for weed control in May
Some changes in the by-laws were to be done last year but never was done. As
the years go by there is always updates that must be done to the by laws.
The last amendment was in 1999.
Also there has to be a nonprofit organization Association due paid to the
State of Michigan each year and this must be in the by-laws. If this is not
done every year we could lose our association also.
Jackie Cross spoke on necessity of some changes in the by laws. John Gabon
Lot 74 asked what are the changes and how will they affect the property
owners.
Jackie says a copy of the changes would be sent in a letter form to all
property owners. . By sending a letter to property owners this constitutes
notification of the changes of the by laws. A meeting would be held 30 days
after the notice is sent out and then changes will be voted on. I was asked
to get a letter out to residents about the changes but when I went over to
Jackie house to read over the by laws it is impossible to get a mailing list
from the county and a letter mailed by the 3rd of June. So that it could be
up for discussion by the 4th of July meeting and voted on at Sept meeting.
As it stands now I will type in the changes.
